District 7080 Peace Initiatives. The pursuit of peace is everybody’s business. Conrad Grebel is Canada’s longest standing Peace and Conflict Studies program.
Kathi Dick and Timothy Whitehead representing the District 7080 Peace Initiatives Committee were invited to attend the Student Awards Program at Conrad Grebel College at the University of Waterloo last month. The pursuit of peace is everybody’s business. Conrad Grebel is Canada’s longest standing Peace and Conflict Studies program. The interdisciplinary nature of Peace and Conflict Studies is a dynamic degree that opens many doors for graduates. Some areas alumni are working include: policy research, law, community development, international development, refugee resettlement, and community mediation. It was a pleasure to attend. We enjoyed the company of some of the international students at our table. One of the students is Sidra Khan, from Pakistan, who is in the Masters Program and is the last Rotary sponsored student to go through the program. (The Rotary Clubs of the Kitchener Waterloo cluster raised $50,000.00 to sponsor students at Conrad Grebel.). We are fortunate to have this amazing college right here in our District.
