As we move into October, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our members for your dedication to our community. Please take a moment to check out the recent reports highlighting the impactful community work we’ve been doing across Mississauga. None of this would be possible without your ongoing support, time, and generosity in raising essential funds—thank you for making a real difference!
Here are a few key dates and events to mark on your calendars this month:
Joint Meeting & Ribfest Celebration — Tuesday, October 20th (Evening) We are excited to hold a special evening Joint Meeting with the Rotary Club of Mississauga West to celebrate the success of Ribfest! It’s going to be a fantastic night of fellowship and celebration. We strongly encourage all members to register as soon as possible.
World Polio Day Flag Raising — Saturday, October 24th October 24th is World Polio Day, a cornerstone moment for Rotarians worldwide. All four Mississauga Rotary Clubs will be joining hands at Mississauga City Hall for our annual Polio Flag Raising Ceremony. Eradicating polio remains one of our top global priorities, and we hope to see a strong showing from our club. Please plan to attend and show your support!
Thank you again for the energy, passion, and service you bring to our club every day. Here’s to another impactful month ahead!
At the Rotary Club of Mississauga, every fundraising event we host and every dollar raised goes directly back into empowering and supporting our local community. Thanks to the dedication, generosity, and hard work of our members and supporters, the RCOM Board of Directors has officially approved 10 new community grants proposed by our Community Assistance Committee.
These approved funds will directly aid vital local initiatives, including:
Mental Health & Youth Services: Supporting grief counselling through the Center for Grief and Healing, anti-bullying programs with SafeCity Mississauga, and youth suicide prevention initiatives with Liberty for Youth.
Essential Support for Students: Providing emergency basic needs—like backpacks, school supplies, and winter clothing—for underserviced youth through The Peel Learning Foundation.
Healthcare & Senior Care: Backing specialized in-home care for dementia patients with Acclaim Health and supporting healthcare infrastructure through the Trillium Health Hazel McCallion Walk for Health.
Inclusion, Arts & Culture: Funding Special Olympics Motionball Mississauga, sponsoring Indigenous Residential School Survivor speakers at The Eagle Spirits of the Great Waters art exhibition, supporting housing initiatives with Indwell Community Homes, and bringing live music to the community with Visual Arts Mississauga.
What a fantastic evening! On July 28, the Rotary Club of Mississauga hosted another memorable Business Circle event, bringing local professionals and Rotarians together for great conversation, networking, and storytelling.
We were honored to welcome our District Governor, Uche Okugo (District 7080), along with special international guests Rtn. Osato Osawaye (President-Elect of the Rotary Club of Ikeja, Nigeria) and his spouse, Funmi.
Members and guests took turns sharing their personal Rotary stories—how they first got involved, why they stayed, and the lives impacted along the way. It was a powerful reminder that beyond professional connections, Rotary is a true global family united by a passion for serving others.
The Rotary Club of Mississauga meets two times per month. First Tuesday & Third Tuesday: Check website for location **To register for lunch see website https://rotaryclubofmississauga.com/events/calendar
