Welcome to another issue of our weekly bulletin! The President's Toast was to welcome in the New Year and to thank all of the Rotarians around the world for all that they do. We had 16 members showing up for a spicy dish on a cold day.
Janette Sasso was the acting Sargent of Arms and told a great joke. Apparently, everyone is helping Janette by sending in jokes (this week's joke was given to her by Rick Fawcett). Julie Grabb managed the money at the door. Lucie Shaw had the winning 50/50 ticket but didn't pick the winning card...Too Bad Lucie :-(
Past President Helga Noyes announced who was on the board next year and announce the 20-21 President- Elect. Pat Manna

There is something for everyone, and there is no registration fee for any of our members. A golden opportunity for professional training not to be missed. Very useful training in your business. You will also find it a fun and engaging way to grow.
You will recall the two street rescue girls Karla and Laura whom the Club is sponsoring their tuition.
Penny and I had them and their guardians over for dinner just before Christmas. They brought their fall semester report cards to share with us. Karla achieved a 9.1 average. Laura has an 8.6 average. However, it was discovered that a mark for a project paper wasn't included in the calculation and will be corrected when school commences again in January. Her grade average will also be over 9 with that adjustment.
They are both working very hard and are so grateful for the opportunity they have been given. Thanks

For those of you who couldn't make it to this week's lunch, you missed a great speaker. Our own Pat Manna arranged for Constable Jennifer Horner of the Peel Regional Police to speak about Fraud and how to prevent it. The three tips I got out of this Presentation was: When answer a phone call, email or text don't give any personal information. Not from your bank, the government or Facebook friend. Google is your best friend when trying to figure out if it is a scam. Just Google the subject line and someone would have commented on it. Don't throw out without shredding because they use the information to secure your identity ie Hydro bills, phone bills. CST. Jennifer joined the Crime Prevention team on the 18th of March 2018 but has been an officer for 12 years.
