At the Rotary Club of Mississauga's September 1 lunch meeting, RYLA graduate Sarah Abu-Aita returned to share how the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy shaped her personally and professionally.
Sarah joined RYLA hoping to develop her leadership skills, step outside her comfort zone, meet other young leaders, and learn more about herself — and she left having accomplished all of it. Through the program she discovered her own leadership style, built confidence, strengthened her communication skills, and gained a deeper appreciation for different perspectives.
Beyond the personal growth, Sarah highlighted the connections RYLA made possible: friendships and networks built with people from diverse backgrounds and different personalities, and the chance to learn alongside other emerging young leaders.
Sarah is already putting those lessons to work. Since RYLA, she's landed a job as a Pharmacy Assistant, volunteered at a fundraising marathon, built lasting friendships from the program, and continued giving back to her community.
Sarah closed her presentation with heartfelt thanks to the Rotary Club of Mississauga for sponsoring her and making the experience possible — one she says she'll always remember.
